We are able to evaluate your property’s fire risk and suggest recommendations to create defensible space, as well as perform this work according to insurance standards.

When possible, we will advocate for preserving trees on your property, especially when they are old or particularly unique. We offer services like cabling and bracing trees to support limbs or defects.

Hazard trees are those that are lacking structural integrity or display extreme safety risk. We see these trees particularly after wildfires, however trees can also become hazardous due to things like decay, uprooting, or hanging up in other trees. We have years of experience safely removing some of the most dangerous trees in the world due to our time working on wildfires as hazard tree fallers.
Our story
Hello! Thanks for taking the time to visit our website. Sure Shot Forestry is a husband and wife team providing tree work to Nevada and Placer County. Our names are Katelyn and Matt, and we have been in the tree industry collectively for 24 years. Matt found his passion for tree work in 2011, following in the footsteps of his father. Originally from Chicago, Illinois, he spent several years in the city learning and gaining his initial skillset as a tree climber. Matt went on to travel to different states and even other countries (New Zealand, Australia, etc), in an effort to work with and learn from some of the most talented arborists in the industry. Because of his wide array of connections and experiences, he now has an expertise in complex rigging and advanced tree work. As for me, Katelyn, I began doing tree work in 2015 after graduating from Ohio State University with my forestry degree. In search of a tree related job after college, I stumbled upon a hiring ad from a tree service in Columbus, Ohio. I was hired on, and over my years there learned to climb trees, fell trees, and operate equipment. I then gained my arborist certification in 2017. Being detail oriented and always wanting to understand the process and science behind my work, I overtime gained a niche in both tree pruning and precision tree felling. In 2018, Matt and I both moved to northern California to join a team of talented individuals working on a Camp Fire clean up project in the Feather River Canyon. Here we gained skillsets felling and removing hazardous burnt trees. We’ve continued to work on both active wildfires as fallers and on fire clean up projects. We have also worked on many logging sites as timber fallers. After years of adventure, we are now focused on growing our business in the area we call home. We’re looking forward to working with our community to tackle their tree care needs, utilizing all of the skillsets we’ve gained along the way.
